2-1/4" Exhaust with cross-over
Aurora #110 had a restricted "chuffy" exhaust sound, and mufflers further reduced the flow diameter of the factory installed 2" pipes to 1-5/8". Power peaked around 3,600 RPM. The biggest improvement in power with the smallest cash investment was upgrading to 2-1/4" throughout.
The modern catalytic converters, fed by the stock Ford air pump, offer no restriction, and efficiently eliminate the smell of unburned exhaust gases in the driver's clothing. The cross-over contributes to even exhaust flow by eliminating pulse back-pressure. It does make it a challenge to change the clutch, however.
The straight through skinny glass packs shown here were later replaced with Flowmaster dual baffle mufflers for a throaty but less raspy exhaust note.
