Ever wonder how much your air conditioning setup weighs?

With compressor, condenser, evaporator, plumbing, brackets and pulleys you're looking at 38lbs. That's 19lbs of sprung weight on each front tire.

Does removing it make a difference in feel? You bet! Lighter steering and less feeling of understeer.

It took 1-1/2 hours and required replacing some bolts with shorter ones. You'll need:

2 @ 3/8" x 2"
1 @ 3/8" x 5"
1 @ 5/16" x 1"

Have an AC shop recover your freon first. Put a pan under the water pump because three of the replacement bolts hold it to the block, and some coolant may drip. Be sure to check for drips after you're finished in case you need a new water pump gasket.
