Rear wire wheels are shimmed out unnecessarily...
My rear wire wheels, like many Auroras, place the tires considerably outside the fender. Not a good look. I tried pulling out the aluminum shim, but closer examination reveals the raised ledge on the hub prevents the knock-off adapter from seating face to face. Solution: A bit of careful lathe work, cutting a recess in the hub (red line), and you can throw the shim out, bringing your wheel inboard 5/16". NOTE - It is necesesary to machine to a close tolerance, as these surfaces are responsible for centering the wheel.
